My Final Piece (Cold Enamel and glass beads)

Final piece from cold enamel and copper plates and glass beads of various colour

cut out templates

designing the neck piece of cold enamel and beads

My inspiration of colour, was highly influenced by the designers I chose looking at their collections and the bright, beautiful, colourful pieces. So I thought as much as I don't have surety of how i would go on about the design and colour technique I'd go for.I experimented with perspex that I ball burred into and gave a nice rough texture and apply acrylic paint.I then moved to cold enamel cause I had initially started with kiln fired enamel which needed experience but was a fun experience. My final piece has glass beads that are colourful and same colour skim as my cold enameled leafs different moods of green and shades.Initially this project was a learning curve for me that sometimes you need to try lots of different stuff and see what will work and new techniques you develop, just by playing around.

Cold enamel

cold enamel in copper plate

cold enamel on copper

I used cold enamelling after I had explored with kiln fired enamel.I found it was more convenient also easier and more neat since you are in control unlike kiln fired enamel that needs experience.

Colour on perspex plastic

Clear perspex ball burred leaf templates and hand painted acrylic

clear perspex burred out flower template and hand painted in acrylic

white perspex burred out and hand painted in acrylic

I experimented on perspex plastic as another interesting  way of  adding colour and I liked and thought the idea worked although at first I wasn't sure of it but I stuck a piece of printed flower on the back traced then burred into it,I then painted to see how it looked with the ball burred texture I found interesting.I plan to explore more and ball burr in deeper and play with colour. to use other shapes as well and try blend the paint more neatly.

My Experimental pieces of colour
(kiln fired enamel)

My pieces that I'm going for are colour inspired.my first experiment was kiln fired enamel with these two pieces  above, Immediately when you think of adding colour in jewellery we always automatically think of enamel.I hope that I can find more colourful ways to explore in for my final design.

Sue Gregor

Sue Gregor lives in a city and says it's more difficult to find  inspiration for her leaf and floral jewellery. The plants and weeds that grow in her garden and wastelands are a source of material, she sees beauty all around.

Sue Gregor does, earrings, necklaces, cuffs and bangles.A stunning collection of contemporary acrylic jewellery in a range of beautiful colours.

Each piece is handmade, using real plants to create embossed texturesonto acrylic,a process she has described as a fossilized plastic. These designs she then hand paints in vivid colours creating pieces of jewellery which are beautiful contemporary designs.
